Hi, I’m Aiden.
Growing up in Northeast Philadelphia, all I knew was watching, playing and talking about sports. When my family moved to the suburbs ahead of my fourth grade year, I built friends through my sports knowledge.
Sports stats and history became my connection. They were my avenue for relationships. And how I earned an interest in sports writing.
While my friends starred on the basketball court during high school, I was in the stands with a laptop and notebook. As they came off the court, I went to them for interviews. Not as a friend. But as a journalist. The passion became a desired profession.
As a sports writer, I’ve worked across the country, from Syracuse football’s Holiday Bowl victory in San Diego to Sunday Night Baseball at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. From coast to coast, the goal has been the same: find the story beyond the numbers.
Working for The Daily Orange at Syracuse University allowed me to cover six different sports, and three of them twice. I’ve written in-depth feature stories on athletes ranging from junior Olympians on the women’s rowing team to the star quarterback of the football team. I’ve even stretched my comfort into the sports-culture avenue, covering the only minor-league baseball game based around the 2024 solar eclipse and reporting on a historical exhibit dedicated to sports uniforms.
With this work at Syracuse, I also learned the inter workings of college and Minor League Baseball through internships with the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League and the Reading Fightin Phils, the Phillies Double-A affiliate.
Through these experiences I know how to connect with readers. Sports performances go beyond simply what’s happening in front of a crowd. I understand what stories readers desire and how to deliver them, just like I did back in fourth grade.
